I have had credit cards for years and they are not dangerous if you use them for emergencies and always pay the balance off at the end of the month. People who think these cards are evil are obviously not good with their money.
Have a nice holiday and pay your balance off when you get home.
You have already told us what you want to do with it.
What advice do you need?
Are you sure its not just 13 months interest free for balance transfers? Normally its just 3 months interest free for purchases. You better double check with them because that is the norm.
DONT DO IT!! your signing your life away to the devil once you start using credit cards..
cant they give you a loan? anythings better than credit cards but their both bad really once you start using them
I’ve only used my credit card for getting rental cars abroad, that is what they need it for. If you keep a close eye on it, only use it for ‘specials’ and make sure you pay it off regularly as soon as you have spent money on it you should be fine; but read the smallprint as they may have a high charge once the initial period is over. Some credit card providers (hsbc) never charge anything if you clear your balance every or every other month.
Dont get it. When its there you will use it. I know you say that it is just for your holiday but you will end up spending on it. When you go on holiday just take you bank/debit card. therefore the money has to be in your accound and you do not risk getting into debt.
I got a credit card 3 years ago. It looked great. 0% interest etc. I am now in thousands of pounds worth of debt.
That sounds like a good offer. Are there any ‘balance transfer’ offers?
Yes, take it and make sure to pay your balance in full when you use it.
Also, try to remember your balance limit, so you avoid to go over the limit and get charge for it.
Avoid using it at ATM as charges can be crazy for cash withdrawal, especially abroad.
All the best
it is not safer to have one for emergency. credit cards just get you in debt. to cover emergencies, you need to have a savings account and a debit card. debit cards work just like credit cards.
They are handy for emergencys and better then using a debit card as you have to pay a fee with them. The card you where offered was the plus card and its 13 months on balance transfers and 6 month on anything you buy. Go to the halifax site and look up the 9 month card (9 months BT and and anything you buy 9.9apr) its a far better card for what you looking to use it 4.
